Weekend away

We are off to Sydney on the weekend. I was given a stunt driving course, and the only available date is this Sunday.

So off to Oran Park for us. Should be good fun. I have a hire car at the moment, as an old bloke reversed into me on the way to work, and did over $3000 worth of damage to the work car. I have been practising my stunts all week in the Avis Commodore.

Not really, but it does handle the high speed entrance to the Bolte Bridge well at 100.

Hopefully my partner will be able to take some snaps of me, doing a burnout, circle work, a jump and some parallel parking like in the Blues Brothers film.

Fly up tomorrow morning, back on Monday, Giddy up. Same next week as I am off to a conference at the Gold Coast. I am sure that will turn into a very pissy affair.

Stay tuned for exciting photos of Stunt-Grant in full Action Man mode.

Myspace

I have added myself to myspace.

Isn't that ace? This will be where most of my thoughts will be collected though. You (few) readers are important to me and this will still be the clearing house.

I got a report from site meter the other day. No one has been here. Not surprising. As this blog is pretty shit. And I talk shit.

However. It is time for me to get down with the kids, and myspace will allow me to do so. So, if you check this blog, you also need to check the myspace page out.

Easy weekend, and beers at the club tonight. Excellent. Nothing else to say.

The Wonder Years

These ain't them.

The title of this post relates to the show. I used to watch it when I was a youngster. Indeed, I even used to watch it while I was an undergraduate studying at a university in rural Victoria.

One of the guys who I lived with then, and I still see now, was going out with a girl with the striking similarity to Winny Cooper. This made for some awkward moments, as everyone knew that Winny was hot! Oh, yes, the 'Coopster' was one hot chickster. Especially to us sex starved undergrad students with too much time on our hands to think about (just) post pubescent girls on TV shows - of which there were many.

Being good red-blooded men (come on, argue with me!) we also thought about other girls too. But they didn't think about us. Or should I say, they didn't think too often about me. So I was left to think about many (many) post pubescent chicks on TV.

Anyways, I was thinking about my week at work. Now that I have a competent staff member on the road, it means that I am not required to travel around picking up the bits that lazy fucks used to not do, because they were 'tired' all the fucking time.

So, mostly my week involves driving into work, dealing with enquiries on the phone, doing other assocaited tasks, and then driving home. Sometimes I go out and see a member and help them with their issues, and either go home or come back to work.

One episode on the Wonder Years, Kevin was asking his Dad, Jack, what he did all day. It was for a school project or similar. Jack said: I get up, bust my hump in traffic, do work, and bust my hump in traffic again. Or some such. Anyway, that has been my week - busting my hump in traffic.

At least I'm not paying for fuel.

Bike ride

Yesterday, we went for a bike ride.

I have often said that just because I own a bike, there is little or no obligation for me to use. That changed yesterday.

Garry, Jay, my partner and I got up early and rode the Federation Trail, from Werribee to Millers Road and the Westgate on ramp. Fuck, it was a long way, and just kept on going.

If you are going to do it, remember that it dumps you at Millers road with no further direction. We took the right turn and rode to Altona and then onto Williamstown and train home from there.

I did just over 40 kilometres. Not bad for someone who hasn't been on a bike for two years.

I am feeling it now. My thighs hurt, so does my back, and my hands. But the special pain is reserved for my calves.

I am related to Henry VIII. Distantly related, I should say. He was said to have 'regal' calves, and they were quite often commented upon. Mine are regal, and sore. I have had trouble with them for some time, and actually see an osteopath for treatment. I have already booked in for Saturday.

Anyway, it was fun. And once my bum gets feeling in it again, and my regal calves are back their suppleness, I will be up for another one.

Ride on.
