Stuff going on

I have some stuff going on in my life at the moment, and that's the reason for my no writes here for a while.

I said many times that I am lazy, and my non posts should attest to that statement.
However, this time there are a number of reasons.

1.
My partner is pregnant. Pretty big news. Unexpected, but not unwanted. Due in October, so it was a January conception. January here in Australia is usually warm, so it must have been a celebration of something. Anyways, I am pretty happy and even a little excited. I'm not getting any younger, and this is a good time for this to happen. WE've had all the checks and everything seems to be going OK. It is an expensive thing, but the spending has started now and probably won't stop for at least another 18 years, goody.

2. We have purchased a new house. As the child will require shelter, we have finally purchased a pad. It is in West Footscray, in the west of Melbourne. A bit of a shock for me, as I've always lived in the leafy inner south east suburbs, where people were conservative and the local members were too. I've never lived in a safe Labor Seat. Will be good not having to hunt out the bloke handing out the ALP how to vote card. It's a three bedroom townhouse type place, which a double garage. So it is really more garage than house. It too is good. We have signed the deposit forms, and paid the 10%, so once settlement comes on in June, I will be a westy.

3. Grief at work. There is a bit of grief going on here. I don't like writing about work here, as I see a separation. But let me assure you, it is not a very happy place and I am not very happy here. Steps will be taken to see this end. Hopefully shortly.

4. I also purchased some CDs a while back. Again, they came from my CD store of choice, www.cduniverse.com. The CDs listed below cost me $153 in US including postage. I'd be lucky to get them here for less than $200. That's why I buy from the US. Those purchased were:

  • If I could only remember my name – David Crosby (excellent and Mojo's reissue of 2007)
  • Sound of Silver – LCD Sound System (great faced paced beats – another Mojo 2007 winner)
  • Neon Bible – Arcade Fire (Mojo's Top of 2007, and it's easy to see why)
  • The Jarvis Cocker Record – Jarvis Cocker(wanted this for a while, can't get it here, ace record)
  • Mirrored – Battles (Another Mojo 2007 winner, good choice people!)
  • Cavalier – Tom Brosseau (occasionally you're going to miss, I think this is one of those times)
  • Mescalito – Ryan Bingham (Americana, and worth it from a young Texas songwriter)
  • Chrome Dreams II – Neil Young (Keeping it going, and for good reason)
  • In Rainbows – Radiohead (yet another 2007 Mojo winner. And my first Radiohead CD, was a bit sceptical, but now a convert – fanfuckingtastic).

I am planning on buying some more CDs soon too, as it has been two months since my last lot. Fuck, better get into it.

5. My car. I purchased a new car in October last year, and it was delivered in January. Because I am a picky bastard, there have been a few issues with it. There still are. And it will be going back to the dealer again soon to get the locking set to go on once I drive off, to get the 'a' pillar replaced and for them to fix the grinding noise in the sunroof. I do however, like the car. I've enjoyed driving it and getting to know it. The UK based Mondeo Forum has been very helpful, and so too has the Australian Ford Forum. I read a lot about this car before it was released and am very happy with the info I've picked up from both these sites. It's just a pity that the dealer I'm dealing with doesn't read it otherwise they wouldn't told me that the driver's door can't be set to unlock only. All I had to do was hold down both the lock and unlock on the key fob. FUCKERS! Sorted now. They will be getting a bit of a rev up too when it needs to go back in. The dealer will also be pointed in the direction of the pommy site for info on how to set the locks. I shouldn't have to do it, but will. Here is picture of my car getting its very first tank of Diesel.

So there has been a lot going on. Stay tuned for more. The best news about the house is that my partner and I had an agreement, once we got our own place, we could get a cleaner. When June comes around, that will be the end of cleaning for me.

Thank FUCK! I hate cleaning.

I bet you want to see a cleaner in a French Maid's outfit. I may not want to not see that. But I am a realist; it will be some flabby Eastern European. In a head scarf. Thank God I won't be there when the cleaning is to be done. We have a birthday dinner for my mate Garry this weekend, so that will be good, and I am looking forward to it already. We are also going to be neighbours of Garry and Jay, so that will be good too. All good, just like me.
