Girl bands

I have a theory. I actually have many. Most are kind of kooky. One involves a well known swimming star who got booted out of the Olympics years ago. But that’s for another day.

Anyway, my theory is that every 5 – 10 years or so, there is the need for a girl band.

Think about it. There were plenty when I was growing up, the Bangles, the Go-Gos and even Australia’s own Clouds.

And there have been many lately. Remember Girlfriend or GF4? Avid readers of this blog will remember I have mentioned them previously. And about my friend’s perverted buying of their CD so he could perv on Melanie.

What about Sister 2 Sister? They were only a few years ago now. Here is the website. It hasn’t been updated for a while, and at least they are now doing other things like having a singing school.

They must have so much knowledge to impart to their students. Fuck, they’ve even released one album! Excellent. Can’t remember any of the songs they sang, there was one about stealing clothes, but that’s about it.

They also hosted a show on one of the Pay TV channels for a while. One was a good cop (older one) and the other played the rebellious one. If I remember it, the show honked like a room of turkeys.

What is it with them? One seems to be attractive, but the other has looks that can only be born of a spiteful outlook and personality.

The best bit is that you can get your email address with their @sister2sister.com.au web address. I bet people are lining up for one of them! Must be particularly popular with the nonces.

Back to my theory. These bands get popular for a while, then they end up doing shit websites like this one. They don't even update it or put. Crap.

The Veronica’s can’t be too far off either. Surely their faux punk can’t last long. I saw a film clip where they throw paint on a car – now that’s pretty rock!

Soon they too will be thrown on the heap of dud music stars. I reckon you could even interchange the chicks from sister to sister with them, and no one over 35 would notice. Again, only the nonces would.
